The main objectives of co-operation in Civil and Criminal Law are the following:
The simplification of the lives of European citizens [IT] through the setting up of judicial provisions which are homogeneous or compatible with each other so as to guarantee full use of the "Judicial Service" throughout European Union territory,
Establishment of an Effective constraint on illegal activities.
The existence of a "common legal fabric" is essential to ensure the maximum development of the freedom of circulation as provided for under the EC Treaty [IT]. It also facilitates the cutting out of illegal activities deriving from this same free circulation.
